William Feely Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 15, 2024.
William "Bill" Cornelius Feely passed away peacefully at age 77 on April 2, 2024, in his home in La Conner, WA, with his loving family at his side. He was born on April 1, 1947, in Everett, Washington, the first child of Jim and Lois Feely, followed by Sherril Brothers (Tom) and Curtis Feely (deceased). He spent the first 70 years of his life in the Alderwood Manor and Lynnwood area.

Bill married his first wife Sharon (Giger) in 1967 and went on to have four children: Patricia (Shane), Jennifer (died at birth), Jeanette (Matt), and Kayleen (Steven), and four grandchildren: Tyler, Ryan (Rebecca), and Kyle, and Audrey.

He worked hard his entire life, starting with hauling bricks for his grandfather's masonry business in elementary school. Bill graduated from Mountlake Terrace High School in 1965, going to work for the Boeing Company in Everett for a time. He spent much of his career working with his father, manufacturing dump truck bodies at Lynnwood Truck Equipment and running his own Feely Enterprises business on the side until he started I-5 Trailer Sales in the late 1990s. Bill was a wizard with metal fabrication and knew how to do nearly anything that required a tool of any kind. Throughout his career, he built countless friendships, many of which lasted throughout his life. With his vast circle of friends, he knew a guy who could help with any project.

Bill played as hard as he worked. He started fishing in a row boat with his grandfather in Edmonds by age five, igniting a love of boating and salt water that brought him endless joy for the rest of his life. In the past few years, he wanted nothing more than to get back out salmon fishing and crabbing in Washington state. Bill loved both on and off-road motorcycling, snowmobiling, and water skiing in the Pacific Northwest. He loved outdoor motorsports and adventures, especially those that involved white-knuckle speed or showing off with his friends. He was our fearless leader in every adventure.

In 2011, he married Cheryl (Atworth) and soon moved to Idaho to enjoy a quieter life. Retirement did not lead to fewer projects; he kept himself busy with home renovations, traveling (especially to National Parks) with Cheryl and his beloved dachshund, Dexter (deceased), and watching the birds and wildlife that wandered through the Idaho property.

Bill could fix or build anything, and he never hesitated to let others know how it should be done. Everyone agreed he also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, clever, and brave, full to the brim with knowledge gained through his life experiences. He never missed a chance to pick up the phone and stay in touch with those he cared about.

Bill has left many meaningful and happy memories for those who knew and loved him that will last for their entire lives. His friends and family will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He was surely greeted at the gates of heaven by the cold wet nose of one very excited Dexter.

Bill will be honored with a celebration of life in Lynnwood, WA on May 19th. Please contact the family at [email protected] for details.

Bill and I met when he came into a dealership where I was selling RVs. He walked in and said he only would deal with the owner. I explained that he would be dealing with me and could talk to the owner later. Well that was not the way Bill worked. He picked out a motorhome and then explained that he would be buying two of them one for him and one for his friend. I had never met someone like him before and once he knew I knew my product. We became fast friends right up until I gave him the price , as you can imagine that was just the beginning of the negotiation . In the end, he did honor his first statement, and we sold him two. Rest in peace, my friend, and will see you on the other side.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Bill and I were in a one act school play in our senior year of high school. He was very kind. I pray that the memories that you have through the years will offer you some comfort in your time of grieving. They are now treasures for you to cling to
in your loss.

It saddens my heart to hear this news. I've known Bill for what seems like forever. I have never known anyone who worked as hard as he did for his job and to provide a beautiful home for his family. The last couple of years, he'd call to visit and at times share some pictures. He did enjoy the outdoors. A month ago he sent a picture of a red snapper he caught last year. It was quite a catch! I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.
