William Flynn Obituary
Buddy volunteered to serve his country in the Korean War at the age of 17 and returned a combat decorated veteran Buck Sargeant at the age of 20. Returning home he married his life long sweetheart Catherine (Kitty) Glenn. They were together until the end. They raised 4 children who were all with him at his passing. Big Bill, as he was known to many began a career as an ironworker in New York City, working on many of the big buildings and bridges that line the city's skyline. Surrounded by and holding hands with his family he peacefully left this world.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 PM Sunday, October 9, at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, CT. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, Academy Street, Madison with Committal to follow at West Cemetery in Madison with military honors. Aunt Kitty and cousins, the wake had many wonderful moments yesterday. Uncle Buddy would have been delighted to see the line of people going out the door waiting to come in to say hello. Joseph Maher wrote on Fb this morning that "everyone should have an 'Uncle Buddy' in their life. He will be missed but never forgotten." I agree.

Bill was a wonderful gentleman filled with so much love for family and friends. He will always be a mentor and role model for so many. Your humor and laughter was contagious and that twinkle in your eye for your beautiful Kitty was the envy of all. God Bless you my friend, you will always have a special place in my heart. We are so sorry to hear that Mr. Flynn has passed. I have such fond memories of spending time with the Flynns. He always welcomed us with open arms. He had a terrific sense of humor and love of family and friends. So thankful we got to spend time with him recently. He will be missed. He was one of a kind.
