Evelyn,
My condolences to you and the family on Bill's passing. He was a true gentleman and friend. I am sorry that Connie & I will not be able to be at Bill's service, but he is in our thoughts and prayers.
I'll always remember our days at Exxon, not for the work we did on Continuous Improvement projects, but for the fun we had at office meetings discussing personnel movements with fellow owners in our fantasy baseball league. I, like many of his baseball buddies, attended numerous after work baseball games with Bill, and once at an Astro spring training game in Kissimmee, FL. There are just too many good experiences with him to possibly enumerate. I will miss him and his monthly Astros evaluations, which he did to the very end.
Bill's passing leaves a big hole in the lives of many people, from both his Exxon day's and the local baseball community activities. May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord.

Evelyn And family, I was truly saddened hearing of Bills Passing. Enjoyed many hours of singing and visiting at our choir rehearsals. I am sure he is singing with many angels now and cutting up with all the voices he has sang with over the years. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time. Kathleen.

I send my sympathy to Bill's family. Bill and I became good friends at Exxon. Bill bought our deck boat. We were born in the same year and retired n the same year. I hope his retirement years were great, he was a fine man and a good friend.

Bill and I linked up via SABR in 1995. A year later, Bill offered his Astrodome tickets to my wife and I during a trip to Houston. It was great knowing Bill, and waiting for his detailed email reports on the Astros; along with other baseball analysis. I will always remember hooking up with Bill at several SABR conventions from 1998-2010. Bill was more than a baseball fan to me -- he was a wonderful family man, and a 'genuine' gentleman ...

Please take comfort in the fact that God will make you firm and He will firmly ground you, at this time of sorrow.

For the past several years, Bill Gilbert has been our chief analyst and reporter at The Pecan Park Eagle on the monthly and seasonal competitive health of our Houston Astros. Some sudden holes in daily life or either hard to fill or sometimes impossible to mend. We may be in for a long wait on someone else to open the gate and start walking in from this now empty bullpen. ~ Rest in Peace, Bill. We simply are grateful that we had you with us as long as we did. ~ Bill McCurdy
