William GODING

GODING _ Dr. William (Bill) Born May 22, 1920 in Berwyn, Illinois. Died October 4, 2002. Age 82. Professor University of Calgary Faculty of Education 1969 to 1985 Emeritus 1985 to 2002. Bill had a life-long passion for learning, books, poetry and people. He followed US Navy service in World War II with a business career at Sears Roebuck in Chicago, ministry as a Baptist University Chaplain, and then discovered his passion for teaching as a professor of Speech Communication in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calgary. Life changing involvements with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Michael Polanyi, Earl Birney and his granddaughters were the sparks to a life lived with passion. Survived by only daughter Lois and son-in-law Barry Uptigrove; beloved Grampa of Leah, Heather and Robyn, all of Calgary; sister-in-law Arlene Goding of Sawyer, MI; three nephews, Jim (Sharon) Goding, John (Debbie) Goding, David (Janet) Goding; one niece Dr. Bonnie (Dr. Stewart) Pattison, all of Illinois. Predeceased by his brother Carl V. Goding of Sawyer, MI.
