Think of you often, Bill. I tell friends that you were my "Work Dad" since I was a young 26 year-old who needed "fatherly" advice quite often. We miss you and you're definitely never forgotten. We still hope to get together with Vange soon and we can share more wonderful memories of you guys. Until we meet again!

Ah Bill, We miss you! I worked with you at the Museum of Natural History. I brushed shoulders with you at the St Louis Zoo as part of their education program. I worked again with you at the USACE in Regulatory. Always my mentor, confidant, and friend. Every November 25th I thougth of you for your birthday. Every year I wondered if another Belle Snickel or Claus would be added to your Christmas collection. Thanks for the memories, Friend! I know you are watching over your grandchildren and children from Santa's lap.

The Groth & Larsen Families,

I am going to miss your father so much. He has been a wonderful brother-in-law. In 1955, I was your parents flower girl, I asked your Dad to marry me when I got older. Your Dad taught me to love birds and for years we have discussed birding. I always looked forward to sharing with him the birds I photographed because he was always truly excited to hear about them. I love him so much and will miss him dearly. Love to you all, Aunt Melody

Myra and I are saddened to hear of Bill's passing. I worked with Bill from 1988 (when I started in Regulatory) until Bill's retirement. He took me under his wing and showed me the ropes, always taking the time to answer my questions, although, his longstanding joke was "You get one question!". Bill was like a father to me, always taking time to educate me about a new regulation, a new process and of course, fatherly advice. His biggest disappointment in me was I never went back to school to get my Master's Degree. I'm sorry I disappointed him in that endeavor, however, I know I made him proud as I remained loyal to the US Army Corps of Engineers and stayed true to being a regulator for life (still working in the Regulatory Office and going strong...34 years!) I'm an avid birder and Bill always wanted to hear about my weekend birding highlights on a Monday morning. Vange, just know that Myra and I have you, and all the family, in our thoughts and prayers, and hopefully, one day, we'll still get to come visit you. We sure enjoyed all the dinners at your home after Bill retired, especially as that seemed to be our yearly event and we cherished those gatherings. We know you're supported by a wonderful, loving family, and we know, you'll always have such fond memories to keep you strong. God Bless you all! With all our love,
Keith & Myra

What a loss!!! I worked with Bill in three different setting over the last 50 years. First in the Natural History Museum in Oak Knoll Park. Then we connected through the Zoo/Arts commission which included Vange's museum out in St. Charles, and most importantly we worked at the CORPS OF ENGINEEERS together. He was a good man. Good husband. Good father and grandfather. and ALWAYS a great mentor to all. Who gets his Santa collection???

I worked with Bill in the Operations Division, St Louis District, Army Corps of Engineers. we had many mutual areas of interest outside of our job(s) responsibilities and I enjoyed our many conversations. he was a well-grounded individual, very mature in his thinking but balanced by a sense of humor....just a very good individual with a solid sense of values. I'll remember Bill and my wish is that he now may rest in peace. pk
