Dear Ann - Bill was my very first love at the tender age of 18. I was a freshman and he was a senior at Duke and my parents were not pleased.
While paging through the obitiuaries in the Duke alumni Magazine, sadly, I came across his name.

From reading this obituary in this newspaper, he sounds just the same as when I knew him: interesting, bright, interested in others, etc. I'm glad that he found someone to with which to share his later years, but he, like my late husband were taken much too soon.

My best to you and his children

We were so saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We have fond memories of skiing and sailing with Bill and of being with him at various lineage society functions. I will miss serving with Bill on the Advisory Committee to the Virginia Bicentennial Commission of the War of 1812.

Ann,
I have such fond memories of the few times I kayaked with you and Bill. We had a lot of laughs negotiating the riffles and occasional rapids. I always knew that I would enjoy getting to know each of you better. You and all of Bill's loved ones will be in my and Charlie's thoughts and prayers.

Bill was a wonderful friend and so many of us remember him as a young teen growing up in Coral Gable, Florida. Our church youth group, Westminster Fellowship, provided the framework for wonderful friendships thru active discussions and social activites. Bill and Ann came to Orlando four years ago to reunite with many of these lifetime friends. It is now an especially treasured time for all of us that we had Bill with us to enjoy that special time. He will be missed by all of us. My love and prayers are for you, Ann, his best friend and partner in enjoying life, as well as to you, Brian and Douglas his source of pride and joy.
With a grateful heart to have known Bill in this walk we call life.
