William "Jay" Hindman

1960 - 2016

(1960 - 2016) Surrounded by his loving family, Jay Hindman passed away at his home in Orangevale, California on May 8, 2016 from complications associated with neuro-endocrine carcinoid tumors. He was 55. Born September 4, 1960, to Bill and Lynn Hindman in Herrin, Illinois, Jay grew up in Hawaii where he attended Hawaiian Mission Academy. He attended Pacific Union College and obtained his nursing degree from the University of Hawaii in 1986. His last employment was as charge nurse for the NICU at Kaiser Roseville, CA. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Dee. Jay wore an "I LOVE DEE" button on his name badge every day of his 30-year nursing career. His sons, Joshua and Jacob were the pride of his life. They were incredible in caring for their father in his last days. Jay will be fondly remembered by everyone whose life he touched. As one of his NICU nurses shared, Jay was "a nurse, a husband, a father, a friend, a Christian, a very extraordinary people person, a funny guy, full of unexpected antics, substantial ideas and magnificent skills, a magical seasoned professional" and a die-hard Packer fan! Jay is survived by his wife Dee, sons Joshua and Jacob, sisters Kelly Meyer and Tracy Mumey, uncle Terry, aunt Maria, and a large extended family. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Rest well dear husband, father, brother and friend. We will see you in the morning. A celebration of life for Jay will be held Sunday, May 22, 2016, 1PM at the Orangevale Adventist Church, 5810 Pecan Ave., Orangevale, CA 95662.
