Born in Calgary, Alberta on March 3, 1920, Bill sailed to calmer seas on Friday, June 21, 2013. Bill served for five years aboard the HMCS Midland during World War II then embarked with a career as a machinist and millwright for various well known Calgary based companies, ending his very successful career with Cominco Ltd. Bill has left behind a career and noble past as a dedicated, devoted tradesman, there are many cars still on the road today that have benefited from his expertise. He was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, an honorable and genuine Calgarian and Canadian. William is survived by son Chris Irving, daughter Marianne MacDonald, son-in-law Stu MacDonald, grandson Shaun MacDonald and granddaughter Leanne MacDonald; long-time friend Marnie Staub and her family and Taso and Colleen Mentzelopoulos and family. He was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia and son William (Bucky) Irving. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 - 14 Street S.W.) today, June 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. A Graveside Service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery on Friday, June 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the Southwood Hospice (211 Heritage Drive S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1M9. Telephone 403-252-0620). In living memory of Bill Irving, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.

We were so vary sorry to lean of Bills passing and extend our sincere
condolences and sympathy's to his family at this time of loss.
Bill was our neighbor during the time we lived on 14 TH Street and had the
privilege of knowing him and his family.
He will be missed by the uncountable people to who he so generously extended his friendship.

Our deepest sympathies to Uncle Billy's family, friends and loved ones. I have many fond memories of his wit and charm over the visits we had at my Nana's (Vera) -- I will most certainly remember his beloved cars and how spiffy he looked in his suits behind those wheels.

Dave and I send our condolences to Chris, Marianne, Stu, Shaun and Leanne, and Marnie and her family. Uncle Billy was a favorite uncle to me and a treasured brother to my late mother Vera. He was always there to help her out and make sure all was well. We all enjoyed his great sense of humour, generosity and thoughtfulness. He will be dearly missed.

Bill was my neighbour at Holly Park for a number of years. I was very sad to learn of his passing. Mike Hartley and I helped to look after his cars. Bill will be missed! My thoughts are with his family and Marnie and her family at this time.

I was very sad to hear of Bill's passing. I got to know Bill through our mutual friend and neighbour at Holly Park, Marnie Staub. I had the pleasure of their company on a number of special occasions. Bill was always warm, cheerful and had a great sense of humour. My thoughts are with Bill's family and Marnie and her family at this sad time. Bill, you will be fondly remembered!
