William O. Jaycox

Hughsonville - William O. Jaycox, lifelong resident of Hughsonville, entered into rest Monday, February 8, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 72.

Son of the late Frank L. and Grace Atkinson Jaycox, he was born March 14, 1943 in Hughsonville. Prior to his retirement, Bill worked as the Postmaster at the Castle Point Post Office. He was a former member of the Hughsonville Presbyterian Church in Hughsonville and had been a lifetime member of the Hughsonville Fire Department.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Richard Jaycox and sister, Virginia Harris. He is survived by a friend of the family with whom he lived, David Kurtz as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.

Interment will be in the future in the family plot at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.

We think of you often ,such a wonderful kind fun man best memory was when we got lost on the way to dinner in Millbrook and we were all staving and John had a candy bar and I grabbed it and said Women and children first and we all laughed and laughed =) also all the wonderful meals that you cooked - We Love you always Bill <3

I just read this now and my heart breaks .... Bill was such an Amazing man that I have ever met in my entire life . He was so kind,funny and could cook a meal like a culinary chef ... If only the world had more people like Bill ,what a wonderful world it would be .
