WILLIAM JORDAN Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen from Sep. 11 to Sep. 12, 2014.

William (Bill) Joseph Jordan
March 19, 1939 – September 9, 2014
Age 75. Peacefully, with his wife of 47 years, Kathleen (Campbell) by his side, in St. Patrick's Home in Ottawa. Eldest son of the late William George Jordan and late Marion Elizabeth Jordan. Cherished father to Geoffrey (Meredith) of Toronto, Christopher Jordan of Ottawa, and Suzanne Tubb (Paul) of Halifax. Survived by his sister Joan Kunnas (Ron) of Calgary, brothers Jack (Roberta), and Jerry (Lynn) of Ottawa, and brother-in- law, Michael Campbell (Mimi) of Winchester. Loving Grampa Billy to Avery, Teighan, Jameson and Gibson, caring uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and loving cousin to many.
Educated at the University of Toronto in Electrical Engineering, Bill cut short his studies to return home and look after his family after the death of his father. He subsequently joined the accounting firm of Bounsall & Davis in Ottawa completing his CA studies at Queen's University. He was a proud life member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. Bill developed a strong work ethic early, growing up in the Ottawa Valley and helping with the operation of his father's general store, and spending summers at his uncle Tom Havey's farm in Arnprior. Highly respected and remembered for his loyalty, integrity, and overall strength of character, Bill had a varied career as an accountant, working in private practice, high- tech (C.F.O. - Newbridge Networks), and the automobile industry (C.F.O. - Dilawri, V.P. - Capital Dodge Chrysler, and V.P. Michael Davies Plymouth Chrysler), where he spent the majority of his career.
A man of great generosity, wit and wisdom, he will be desperately missed by his family, friends and former colleagues.
Special thank you to dear "chosen son and brother" Dominic Dodds, who selflessly offered care and support to Bill and his family during his final months of life.
Bill's Funeral will take place Friday, September 12, 2014, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 194 Fourth Avenue in Ottawa at the corner of Fourth Ave and Percy Street at 11:00 a.m. There is no parking lot, but there is on street parking in the area. For those people who have mobility issues, there is an accessible entrance on Fourth Ave., with an elevator to the church proper.
Visitation will take place prior to the Mass in the front lobby of the church from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. Bill's family members will be there to greet you and share some stories of Bill's life.
There will be a reception following the Mass in the church basement. All are welcome to Celebrate Bill's Life on this special day. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name may be made to the Ottawa Rotary Home, Citizen Advocacy of Ottawa or St. Patrick's Home of Ottawa

Geoff and Family,
I was so sorry to hear that your Dad had died and am thinking of you at this difficult time. Your house was always full of fun and laughter when I'd visit as a teenager, often because of your Dad. I remember how he would chuckle as he served us that salad with all the raw garlic and onions in it!

Esther and I just learned of Bill's passing. We wish to extend to you and your family our sincerest sympathies. I have fond memories of Bill when he hired and mentored me while working at Dilawri's. He was well respected in the Auto Business among his peers and had the utmost respect among his staff and colleagues. Bill taught me everything about the car business and it was my pleasure to learn from the best. Bill will be sadly missed.

Hi Kathleen
As many others have said I join in saying I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing and I offer you sincere condolences.

I worked with Bi;; for several years at Bounsalls' as we pursued our CA degrees and we had many enjoyable - and comical - times during those wonderful years. He even sold me my one and only convertible that my wife and I enjoyed driving around for several years.
Whenever I would run into Bill over the years (not nearly often enough) we would always reminisce about the good old days and about all the fun we had working together.
Once again I offer my sincere condolences to you and your family.

The world is not as well off as it was a few days ago.

Take care and God bless

.
