Jim Kennedy passed away peacefully at the age of 90 after a short illness at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. His girls were at his side. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angela Mae Long (1992). Jim was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. His parents were Patrick Angus and Mary Kathleen Kennedy. He was the sixth of nine children: Hugh, Art, Bernard, Leo, Don, Frank, Patricia and Joan. Jim served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flight lieutenant during WW II. He attended the University of Manitoba, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Law. He worked for Chevron Canada from 1952 to 1983 where he retired as Vice-President, Land. Jim was very proud of his daughters Cathy, Carol, and Patrice and his four grandchildren Kris, Kaisang, Arya and Sean. He also loved his many nieces and nephews. After his retirement, Jim and Angie, accompanied by one of their loyal dogs, spent many happy winters in Palm Desert where Jim developed his passion for golf. In his later years, after Angie died, Jim treasured the support and companionship of his loving family and many dear friends. The family would like to especially thank Amy and Bob Veldhoen for their caring support and friendship. A celebration and prayer vigil will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary) today, July 24, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church (5340 - 4 Street S.W., Calgary) on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
