In memory of

I had the incredible pleasure of working with Dr. Leppert at Methodist Germantown for many years. I can't think of one time he didn't brighten my day with his keen sense of humor. Just seeing him in the hall would bring a smile to my face. He was VERY loved by us all, and the hospital is not the same without him. Jan Phillips

I first met Mike when he was graduating from UT and I took his place as an extern at Methodist. He taught me how to start IV's. Later when I did my anesthesia rotation as a surgery resident he showed me what a great specialty anesthesia is and is the major reason that I ended up changing specialties. He has been a mentor, friend and example to me of how to live both professionally and personally for over 30 years. My wife and I will always cherish the dinners we shared with Lynn and him when we would meet up in St. John. He will truly be missed by many, many people.

I had the pleasure of training and working with Mike over the last 30 years. He was very quick witted and fun to work with. One day, when I was walking across the parking lot at Methodist Germantown, I ran into Mike. Healthgrades had just started their physician grading system and the results were published in the paper that week. Mike said to me, "Hey Gerlach, I saw you got 5 stars on your Healthgrades report. That's great! I told Shapiro the other day, wow, I knew him when he only had two stars." Memphis is a better place because of Mike Leppert and we are all better for having known him!

I always loved to see Dr Leppert ! Especially as the "board man" or whenever we had a heavy child day. Dr Leppert was a great listener, teacher, confidant! God most certainly blessed this man and he GAVE his gift away to all of his friends, patients and colleagues. I am blessed to have worked with him!

To Mike's loved ones we extend our deepest sympathies. Mike could light up a room with his masterful stories, his smile & contagious laughter. We are so fortunate our paths crossed with Mike & Lynn's in Gainesville. Such a wonderful life & family that he cherished. May we honor a life well lived. He will forever be in our hearts.
With love,

Dr Leppert was my doctor when I had my last child. You don't normally remember the man that gave you an epidural but I remembered him! So kind. Years later, our paths crossed again when our daughters played sports together at ECS. He was just always fun to be around! Prayers for his family!

One of the nicest, funniest doctors I have ever met. I worked in EPOH many years ago at MUH, and the minute he walked into the recovery room/EPOH he would have us laughing. We should all be like Dr. Lep and spread such happiness.

What a wonderful obituary for Dr. Leppy (as we called him)! He always had everyone laughing and their jaws on the floor after his quick witted comments! Such a pleasure to work with! You knew it was as going to be a good day when you saw (or heard) him walk in to your OR! Many prayers for healing for his family.

I remember one year we had a pretty good snowfall and Dr Leppert brought the kids up and let them slide down the hill behind the ORs using cardboard boxes. They had such a good time and it was so fun watching them and hearing them having so much fun. He will truly be missed by many. Keeping his family in my thoughts.

We loved and adored Mike. He always came in like a whirlwind and left everyone (including his patients) laughing. You just couldn't be in a bad mood if he was in the room. Fly high Mike! I know that you have everyone rolling on the floor up there right now!

Dr. Leppert was one of a kind.....the kind you wanted to be around. "Hot diggity dog, I'm gettin to work with Peppy Leppy" is what I would say to myself when as a nurse I would be assigned to his operating room. His operating room would be full of joy, kindness and laughter.
You couldn't spend any time with Dr. Leppert, that he wouldn't bring up his family. Oh how he loved his family!! And those of us, who had the honor of working with him, loved him.
Love and prayers for the family he held so dear,
Nancy Nelson
