I am so sorry for your family's loss. I was lucky enough to work with Bill in the mid 80's. As good as Bill was at being an instructor he was even better at being a friend. Some of his sayings and comments I still remember to today, they alway bring a smile to my face. Bill's homour and wit will be missed.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Bill in the early 1990's when I was a rookie surveyor, and will always remember him as one of the nicest guys I have ever met. His sunny disposition and wonderful stories made some difficult work days a lot easier to take.

To Mary,
I have known you for over forty years now and I know that you are a remarkable woman. Bill was able to see the beauty of your heart because he himself held the same beauty within. I truly enjoyed the time spent with both of you and I know that Jessie, Lans and Taffy will help carry you through this suffering.

Reaching another Summit (Sep/28/2008): My roof was a mess since the ice storm of 98. I replaced half of it in 2005 and did the rest on vacation the week of Sep/22. After seeing that I had to replace wood and more Bill came over. "Nice ladder. Yup just got it. Need help? Yup. Got any cold beer? Yup. Be right back." So he shows up in his climbing and roofing gear and every day after work and on the weekend he shows up and as always we worked well together. While holding a shingle I set out the plan..."I'll lay her and you nail her. OKAY!!!" We'd stop for a beer break as the sun would set and then go up after dark for a few minutes with our head lights on. Not much got done at that point except a few shingles and to bring in the tools. Then the day came we reached the summit. You finish it off John and I'll give you a hand with Jessie & Jeff on the clean up next week. Thanks Bill!
On one of our breaks we talked and agreed, "...Better is a neighbor that is near than a brother that is far away." (Proverbs 27:10)
