William Merrick

I am truly saddened to learn that Billy Merrick my childhood friend has passed away. We grew up together in Scranton Pa. and although we went our own separate ways I often thought about my friend. I was also a friend of his sister Mary Ellen my deepest sympathies to his wife, children and family.

honored to have had my first sailing experience with Bill at the helm, dashed among the crashing waves, practically upside down, parallel to the water beneath the Golden Gate. He was fearless in those brief moments, I will certainly remember him as such. Sara - I am so sorry for your loss. Having had the privilege of spending time with you both, I know there are no words. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives. I am grateful that we intersected, ever so briefly.

Having only known Bill for the last four years during trips to Savannah with Sara, I found him to be a rugged, independent yet very gentle man. His spirit and inspiration will live on in my life.

Bill was a long ago friend from Scranton. A good man - so sorry for your loss.

It was my honor and great pleasure to have spent some time with Bill, doing what he enjoyed- sailing. Sara and Hannah, I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that your memories of him will bring light to ease your sorrow. My thoughts are with you.
