William Merrill Obituary
He was born June 29, 1927 in Sayre, Pa., the son of the late Alfred R. and Helen (Lewis) Merrill.
Bill loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He graduated from Athens High School in 1945. He ran the family farm with his father. Following his father's declining health, he ran the farm with his wife and children. Bill also drove a school bus for both Sayre and Athens.
Following his retirement, Bill worked along with his son, Lonn, in his business, Lonn's Equipment in Athens. Bill loved going square dancing and spending winters in Florida with his wife, Marge, prior to her passing.
He served two terms as Litchfield Township Supervisor. Bill was always willing to help anyone with projects being a jack of all trades. He especially liked doing mechanical work. Bill enjoyed going to flea markets, camping and was an avid hunter.
He is predeceased by his wife Marjorie in 2002; brother, George Merrill; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Eunice and Harry Campbell and Emma and Howard Wiles.
Bill is survived by his children, Lonn Merrill and Ellen Lane of Athens, Pa., Linda and Lawrence Henry of Athens, Pa., Diana and Douglas Havens of Athens, Pa., Carl and Bonnie Merrill of Athens, Pa., and Jerry and Debra Pruyne of Virginia; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jane Merrill of Athens, Pa.; brother-in-law, James Bradley; brothers-in-law and their spouses, Faye and Kay Bradley, and Gerald and Nancy Bradley; sister-in-law Hazel Bradley; several nieces, nephews, and many close friends who will miss him.
Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 225 S. Main St., Athens, Pa. Funeral services will follow 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Crain officiating. Burial will be in the Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, Pa.

I was sad to hear of Uncle Bill's passing. I have such fond memories of my childhood having spent much time on the Merrill farm with Uncle Bill, Aunt Marge, and my fun loving cousins.
May you rest in peace Uncle Bill knowing that you are now surrounded by many loved ones in Heaven.
