Jackie, Whitman, Cassie and Randy,
I needed to think about the meaning of condolences (with sadness) when I heard Bill had died- so I send love and prayers with my condolences. Bill was a friend, mentor, colleague and the corrupter who introduced me to old books. He impacted science with both his knowledge but also by the ease with which he interacted with so many in the research world. His legacy is in science, animal care, and mostly in the number of people whose lives and thinking he inspired and challenged. He was a great guy to know and call friend.

I remember Bill very well. I was the pathologist and he was the colony veterinarian at the Washington Primate Center. We collaborated on several studies of naturally occuring primate diseases. I really enjoyed Bill's sensitivity and sense of humor. My condolences to Bill's family.
