My name is Catherine Haywood, I am the oldest daughter of Ernest Murray.
I am so sorry to hear about a uncle I did not get to know. In reading his obituary I fill such a lost. I pray that we as a family can find some time to get to know one another. It is a shame that it is always a funeral or a wedding that draw families together. I will continue to pray for our family as I always do, I am a true believer in prayer, I know with God all things are possible. Being a teacher he touched many lifes. I am sure that he will never be forgotten, and I love the fact that he was my uncle.

With Love

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I was never able to locate either Laura or William after I left Davis in 1974, but I thought fondly of these two people. I knew them when I was just an elementary student in the central California area. These two people were so pro-education, so innovative, so personable, and such dedicated people, especially with their personal concern of making sure children were at least showing a passion for education. They left their impressive footprints and were never forgotten. I would like the family to know that these people were instrumental in the progressive education of realizing the goals and the dreams of at least one family of 8, who were able to graduate from universities and colleges, and also to have some of their own respective children realize dreams of graduating from top universities. I cannot say enough about William and Laura Murray. Great, fantastic, soulful people who cared about changing the attitudes, perceptions, and the educational possibilities for low income people.
