William Howard "Bill" Nelson M.D.

Doctor Nelson passed December 5, 2022 at the age of 80. He was born in Globe, AZ, and raised in San Bernardino, CA. He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Riverside, and his Medical Degree from UCSF in 1968. Following his Internship and Residencies at UCLA Medical Center and Long Beach Veterans Administration Hospital, Bill entered the US Army Medical Corps. Major Nelson was head of Medical Staff at Womack Medical Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC. In 1975 Bill returned to Southern CA and began his Cardiology practice in Laguna Hills. He joined the Medical Staff at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center and retired 36 years later. Bill enjoyed Snow Skiing, Golf, Photography, Bird Watching, Slight of Hand/Magic and Travel. He was also and amazing cook. Bill and his wife completed 53/55 items on a 24 year old Bucket List. Bill was most happy celebrating his grandchildren's academic, athletic and community service successes. Bill was happy to have found South Hills South County Church 2 years ago. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; Howard and Jackie Nelson. Bill is survived by his loving wife Jan, His Sister, Betty Trapp, Brother in law Billy Long. Children Eric Nelson and Jennifer Chestelson and her 5 children; Zachary, Dylan, Kadin, Khloe and Stiorra. Bill will be missed by his Stepchildren Megan (Brad) Valles and Ian (Jenny) Cooper and 4 more Grandchildren Mason and Brianne Valles and Lincoln and Sawyer Cooper.
