Em passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 29, 2008 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born April 12, 1922 in Owasso, MI the son of the late Charles and Ida (Less) Grossman. Em was a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Master's degree in Education and was co-captain of the WMU football team. After graduation in 1949 he was on the U.S. Football traveling team. Em was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Navy in the Submarine service in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Germaina Country Club in Saginaw, the Paw Paw Elks Lodge # 2511, WMU Alumni Association, Retired Teacher Association, V.F.W. Celery City Post #6248 and the U.S. Navy Submarine Association. On June 29, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Em was united in marriage to Patricia A. Abrams who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary (Louis) Puckett of Paw Paw and Susan Grossman of Lawrence; three grandchildren, Scott, Cody and Emma Puckett; several nieces and nephews. Em was preceded in death by a brother, Albert and three sisters, Hilda, Elizabeth and Elsie. Family will receive friends Saturday 12 noon to 1 PM at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw with a memorial service following at 1 PM. Interment will be in Prospect Lake Cemetery, Lawrence. Very sad to hear of Emerson passing away. I have great memories of our relationship. He coached me at South and Arthur Hill. He influenced my life in many ways.He was an outstanding person. My condolences to the family.

Dear Pat,
Our memories of you and Em are very dear. Handley School is no more, but memories of all of us there will remain. To have good memories of old friends is something to treasure. Our sympathy to you at this time.

My condolences to the family of Em. I refereed with him many games and I have known him many years.I remember once when we worked at a Flint School and were about to get dressed when Em said I left my pants at home and then a man walked in and said " There is a lady out side who has your pants" Em was for ever gratful for that one.
