To the Family of Bill,
I never met Bill but was the go between between my aunt, Tatsy Wilhelm and Bill. I spoke to Bill several times on the phone plus email. He was so impressive with his mind remembering everything of the past. Tatsy passed on March 18, 2019. She really would have loved to see him, but just not possible. Hopefully they are catching up on everything now. - the last 2 of their high school class. My condolences for the loss of your father.
Fondly,
Denise Creamer

I am really going to miss Bill. I always looked forward to seeing him at Alumni picnics. When I talked to him at the last picnic on July 27, 2019, he said to me Pat, this is going to be my last picnic. I said it better not be, I will miss you. He said We'll see. I absolutely could not believe it when I had a call last Saturday saying he was gone. He was a wonderful man & a great friend. May he RIP. It won't be the same without him.

Bill and Ruth were wonderful people, we moved in across the street in 2002. Bill always was outside talking with us neighbors. After Ruth passed and he moved, we would see him socializing at the local restaurants. He always would come over to say hello. A nice man who I'm sure will be missed by all.

It was my privilege to know Bill and Ruth from the day Bill and Henry North came to Dravo. Bill was my supervisor at one point, but never my boss. As a supervisor his emphasis was always on supporting the folks who reported to him. I especially remember a trip he and I took to Venezuela in the early 1970s, to hire a contractor to erect two materials handling machines for us. We spent a week in a fancy hotel suite, acting like big businessmen! More importantly I remember Bill as a friend, one of the best I have ever had. I regret being unable to attend his memorial service.

Bill O'Neil was a class act. He, his wife Ruth, and their family moved in to the house next door when I was 2 years old. Ironically, he and I shared the same first and middle name, albeit a different spelling of the middle name. When I was age five or so, my parents told me Mr. O'Neil was diagnosed with very high cholesterol, and he would really need to watch his diet, and might not live all that long. That was 50 years ago! Bill could fix anything, and discuss anything. He worked tirelessly to keep his Buicks, and later, Mercurys, running and looking like new for years, back when everybody needed a new car every 5 years. He loved golf, and his own yard was as well-kept as any golf green. From what I recall, he worked in jobs related to engineering, but did not have a college degree. He didn't need one. He had a natural intellect, and was not afraid of new technology. He began dabbling in home computers back in the 1970's, when computers were still scary, intimidating, ornery things. Not only did he learn to operate an early computer, he learned how to work on them, and, later, build them from a pile of parts. He had a wonderful and long retirement, and combined his love of history and computers into the hobby of online genealogy research, compiling amazing amounts of background history on his family, friends and neighbors. He is the first person I have personally known to reach the age of 101, and I heard he was still driving, and living independently, to his dying day. He beat the odds, and enjoyed life. May we all be so fortunate.
