To Mrs. P & The Powers Family,
I am saddened to read of the passing of a truly legendary figure in the Town of East Lyme. Mr. P (as I always called him) touched so many lives, whether it be as a teacher, principal, St. Agnes Parishioner, or the moderator of a Democratic Caucus. I came to know him early on as the principal of Niantic Center School, and always loved speaking to him after mass at St. Agnes. He will be missed by many - my condolences go out to you all.

To the Powers family,
I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Mr.Powers. He was a close family friend back in the day of his teaching and being a principal with my father, Bob McNeil. I will never forget Mr. Powers's voice, laugh, and smile. He was a wonderful man and always kind to people. He will be sorely missed in this community, no doubt. May the happy memories replace the sadness and loss you all feel now.

Don and I send our sympathy to you and the boys. I will never forget the handsome teacher who came to Niantic Center to teach a class of swooning girls. Many memories of that first year including the class buying diapers for your firstborn. Through the years we became friends as well, raising our families and of course in politics. His smile was legendary.

Jane and Family,
I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Bill. Everything he did in life was with such enthusiasm and caring. I will always remember his compassion for everyone and everything around him.
He was a role model for every life he touched and his presence will be greatly missed. He will live on forever in all of us.

To the Powers Family: My deepest sympathies on the passing of a true gentleman. Mr. Powers was the principal at Great Neck School that I and my siblings attended. Over the years we would run into him and there always was laughter remembering some situations. He saved the Sullivan kids in many ways, even when we would be in trouble and he would say "now Alice, what he/she did was wrong, but they had a reason". A true supporter of youth and recreation, he will be missed. May you smile through your tears as your memories help to ease the sadness.

As a child going to Niantic Center I waited for our principal to bring his shillelagh for show and tell on St. Patrick's Day.

I remember Mr. Powers well from when he first came to Niantic Center School. We kids were very happy to be in the first classes [the other being taught by Thomas Caulkins] taken to NYC to see an honest-to-goodness Yankees' ball game. And I also think that they were the first male teachers to be hired by the Town [prior to that, the education money available for teachers' salaries was probably not enough to support a family]. We should all be thankful for Mr Power's contributions to the communities in which he and his family lived. We are all diminished by his dimise.
With warm regards,
