Bill Pryor, 83, of Creston, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Services will be 1 pm Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery south of Creston. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday, at the Powers Funeral Home at the junction of highways 34 & 25 in Creston. Memorials can be made to Greater Regional Hospice Home, First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Crest Baptist Church. William Russell "Bill" Pryor, son of Marion Henry Pryor and Minnie Marie (Cobb) Pryor, was born on March 25, 1926 in Rosendale, Mo. Bill was educated at Savannah High School. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1943 to 1945. On December 27, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Jean (Colwell) in Savannah, Mo. They settled in Savannah, Mo. until 1969 when they moved to Creston. Bill worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as an assistant to the Road Master until he retired in November, 1981. Survivors include, three daughters: Vicky (husband Bill) Winterstien, Debbie (husband Robert) Winterstien and Teresa (husband Ron) Pendegraft all of Creston; one son, Gaylen (wife Tammy) Pryor of Afton; two brothers: Charles Pryor of St. Joseph and Ronnie Pryor of Savannah, Mo.; two sisters: Delores (husband Albert) Pasley and Donna Eads, both of St. Joseph, Mo.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law: Mary Pryor, Margaret Pryor, Caroline Pence, Joan Colwell and Pat Sterner and two brothers-in-law Bill Colwell and Herb Sterner. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; three sisters: Vernita Wilson, LaVota Belle Pryor and Twila Mae Pryor; two brothers: Robert Pryor and Virgil Pryor; four sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Pryor, Darlene Colwell, Doris Arn and Carol Sterner and six brothers-in-law: Walter Arn, Leonard Wilson, Dean Eads, Orie Colwell, Bobbie Colwell and John Colwell.
