Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 10 to Oct. 12, 2023.
William (Bill) Lewis Puckett, Jr., of Asheville was reunited with his Heavenly Father on his earthly 91st birthday, October 7th, 2023 at 8:45 am at Elizabeth House-Four Seasons Hospice. He was born on October 7th, 1932, in Buncombe County, a son of the late William Lewis Puckett, Sr. and the late Lois Eunice Tinney Puckett of Asheville, North Carolina.

Bill was a proud Army Veteran stationed in Germany where he met his wife. Bill was a long-standing member of The Shepherds Chapel Church and was known for his immense love for God and his family and loved discussing the Bible at length. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and working on projects with his Sons.

Bill's kindness, and his sense of humor often followed by a mischievous grin, his outgoing nature and his wealth of knowledge on a mymarid of subject matters developed Bill into a beloved and respected member of the community he served.

Bill began his automobile career as a mechanic for Toy Jones' Garage building engines for infamous Nascar drivers such as Banjo Matthews, and others. A historic picture of Bill and Toy flanked by Banjo's cars in Toys'

garage is immortalized at the Asheville Speedway Memorial Monument which depicts the racing history of the area. Bill branched out on his own opening Puckett's Garage along with Puckett's Auto Sales at his home in Asheville. His reputation as an honest, talented, mechanic resulted in various partnerships such as Dick Davis Auto Sales, Puckett Properties, and West Ridge Auto Sales; which he retired from in 1997.

Bill was preceded in death by his beloved parents; grandson, Tyler Christian Puckett; sister, Clara Puckett Biebinger; and brother, Lewis Sherrill Puckett.

Bill is survived by the love of his life for 64 years, Hildegard Raihofer Puckett of Asheville, whom he married August 21st, 1959. He will be dearly missed by his family; William (Billy) Lewis Puckett, III and his wife, Linda Silvers Puckett; David Maurice Puckett and his wife, Rhonda Walls Puckett; and Daniel (Danny) Roland Puckett and his wife, Julia Shell Puckett; all of Asheville.

He was Grandpa to his grand-children; Courtney Puckett Anderson, Jordan Puckett Tate and her husband, Edward; Alissa Lauran Puckett, and Levi Daniel Puckett as well as Great-Grandpa to Chloe' Diana Anderson; all of whom he loved and cherished dearly.

He will also be fondly remembered by his extended family including his nephew, Andrew (Andy) Biebinger and his wife Beth Torres Biebinger of Hendersonville; niece, Barbara Biebinger; neice, Sherry Ratledge and her husband, Bob of Arizona; as well as many dear friends and associates.
