WILLIAM RANKIN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 20, 2012.

GREENSBORO — William Theodore Rankin Jr., 84, of Greensboro transitioned on Saturday December 15, 2012 after a long and valiant battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 18, 1928 in Greensboro to the late William T. Rankin Sr. and the late Cora Elizabeth Presley Rankin.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday December 22 at the Sharpe Rd Church of Christ at 11 a.m. with visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. A military burial will be held Monday December 24 at the Salisbury National Cemetery.

Affectionately known as "The Great American", "Junior", "W.T." and "Mi Dah", he served in the US Marine Corps. Throughout his life, he was a hard worker who dearly loved his family. He was very easy to attach to and was a longtime member of the Church of Christ (Dorchester, MA and Greensboro).

He was preceded in death by his wife Mable A. Rankin, daughter Cora Rankin, his parents and brother Alfred Rankin.

Survivors include: daughters; Claudelle Duncan (Terrence Sr.), Cynthia Epps (Cleveland), Cia Khan (Waheed) and Chrystal Carr (the one who took excellent care of Daddy); grandchildren: Evan (Latoya), Terrence Jr., Everett, Nickolas, Marques and Maya; sisters: Thelma Gilcrest, Clara Pires (Vasco) and Gloria Chapman, all of Massachusetts, and other relatives; special longtime friend Paul Sanders (Claudie) and his church family.

This is a huge loss for our family. He will always be a part of each of us. Our love is his love; his love is our love forever.
