WILLIAM L. "BILL" RICCA

William L. "Bill" Ricca William L. "Bill" Ricca, 55, of Elgin passed away on Feb. 12, 2013 in Sherman Hospital, Elgin. He was born on July 14, 1957 in Peoria, IL the son of William W. and Joann J. (Biggs) Ricca. Bill attended St. Boniface grade school and Bergan High School (Class of 75). He was an All-State basketball player, a three year starter for his high school team, and was the leading scorer in the 1975 Illinois High School All-Star game. Bill attended Bradley University on a basketball scholarship, before transferring to Northern Illinois University. He graduated with a degree in accounting and passed his CPA exam, and began his career with Ernst & Young in Chicago, IL. Bill achieved his Masters' Degree from DePaul University. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elgin, and the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Ana Delia (Molina) Ricca of Elgin, formerly of Chicago; his son, Richard Ricca. 3 grandchildren: Alicia, Nikolai and Delayne. His sister: Jodi (Gary) Shelton of St. Charles, MO and a brother, Badley (Samantha) Ricca of Crystal Lake, IL, along with many aunts, uncle, nieces and nephews, including a great nephew, Will Shelton named after "Uncle Billy." He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Bob and Brian Ricca. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday February 23, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 397 Fulton St., Elgin IL 60120. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, IL. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-9:00 P.M. at the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin IL 60123 and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the mass.
