Dear Mrs. Ridley, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. He will be greatly missed. He leaves a wonderful legacy for us to cherish and follow. I am privileged to have served under his leadership as a member of the 116th Intelligence unit since 1990. I am currently deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and regret I missed his funeral. Please accept my sincere prayers and condolences.

I have just heard about the loss of Col Ridley. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Col Ridley was a mentor for me coming into the 116th Fighter Wing, and I will never forget his kindness to me, and his assistance helping me find a position in the Georgia Air National Guard. He was truly a Southern Gentleman, and he will be missed greatly by his friends in the Georgia Air National Guard.

I just got the news of the great loss of Bill. It is specially hard to find out after all the gathering is over. We all have fond memories of the Riddler and his special slant on Intel. Everyone he touched in 116th and 128th has lost a great friend and crewmate.

Bill was one of the most dedicated Air Guardsman I have ever known. He was the inspiration for and the editor of two Air Guard history books which consumed many hours of his time for research. All of his many friends will remember his artistic Chritmas Cards. His work with the Georgia National Guard Historical Society was invaluable. His talents were enormous. I have been blessed to know Bill and Betty. He was a great friend and I will miss him.

On behalf of the entire Darden Family we express our sincere condolences to our friends the Ridley's. Steve, Katherine, your Dad was ALL CLASS and ALWAYS a dignified military man and a christian father and husband. More than 20 years ago, I always feared that Steve and Major Ridley had an upperhand in the Boy Scouts Pinewood Derby because I feared the U.S. Air Force influence would facilitate their derby car to become airborne just long enough to cross the finish line WAAAAAAY ahead of mine. Peace to you all.
