Chandler, Arizona - William A Riedlinger, or "Bill" to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on January 10th, 2023, at the age of 83, in Phoenix AZ. His family and friends will miss him greatly, as he was an inspiration for living life to its fullest. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Bill, (Christina), Terri, (Matt), Debbie, and Lori, (Jeff). His grandchildren, Blake, Noelle, (Dean), Cole, Ryan, Drue, Cody, Kelly, and AJ. His great grandchildren Luke and Eri.
Bill was born in Anacortes, WA. He loved growing up in the San Juan Islands area. After high school, he attended the University of Oregon, GO DUCKS! At U of O Bill was the life of the party, as the social director for the Theta Chi Fraternity and a lifelong Ducks fan.
After graduation, Bill and his wife, Julie, moved to San Leandro, CA, where they began a family and his career in the lumber industry with Georgia Pacific. He was very successful, becoming a Branch Manager in Salinas, CA. In 1975, Bill moved his family to Fresno, CA, to become the Branch Manager for Georgia Pacific in the Central Valley for most of his career. Bill was a dedicated and successful manager for them for many years. After leaving GP, he operated his own lumber brokerage firm until his well-deserved retirement. Bill was a Fresno staple for approximately 50 years, only moving to Arizona in mid-2022 in order to be closer to his family who lived there.
Bill loved playing golf, anywhere and everywhere. He was an avid attendee of the annual horse races in Fresno, often attending with family and friends. Bill enjoyed watching sporting events, his favorites were the U of O Ducks and the NFL Raiders football games. He also loved boating, traveling, dancing, and socializing with friends and family in the US and abroad.
Bill, always had a contagious, positive, can-do attitude in life. His motto was "Work hard, play hard", which is exactly what he did. Despite several health challenges later in life, he lived life his way, which was always hopeful, positive and with a smile for everybody. Bill brought life to every party.
He will always hold a special place in the hearts of his family and friends with the memories he created with each. We will miss him.
