William Creston Riley Jr.

William Creston Riley Jr., aged 81, passed away on October 31, 2024, in Libertyville, IL, Lake County. Born on May 25, 1943, he was a lifelong resident of Waukegan and a respected member of the community.

William graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1961 and started working as a Waukegan police officer. He then devoted over 50 years as an Operating Engineer. He was a proud member of Local 150, where his contributions were deeply valued. Additionally, William proudly served in the US Army Reserve as an engineer, demonstrating his commitment to both his country and community.

Outside of his professional and military service, William was passionate about fishing and gardening, hobbies that brought him great joy and peace.

He is survived by his children, Julie Niemiec (Todd), Robert Riley (Andrea), and Darren Riley (Debbie); grandchildren, Sara and Grace Niemiec, Mark, Brett, and Erin Riley, and Emily and Shane Riley. He is also survived by his siblings; Robert Riley, Betty Herlehy, Peggy Rowe, and Dan Riley. William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Jean Riley who he was married to for 50 years. As well as his parents, William Creston Riley Sr. and Mary Riley and his brother John.

William's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his service to his community, and his love for the outdoors. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
