I am deeply saddened to learn of Robin's passing in American Music Teacher. I also was born in and grew up in Camden, S.C. and still remember feeling awed by Robin's performances in Mrs. Dora's Zemp's piano studio. One memory stands out, in particular, of waiting in her living room (60 years ago!) for my lesson during one of Robin's lessons. I so admired him! I contacted Robin several years ago seeking further information about Mrs. Zemp and had hoped to communicate with him further for background details about her; but alas, he is gone. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy in this time of sorrow. May you find comfort in knowing he will be remembered by a wide and loving circle of friends and students.

Robin was probably one of the most talented musicians I´ve ever known. His talent and spirit will be missed. Prayers and thoughts for the family.

I recall his performance in a violin/piano concert when I was a senyor at Winthrop. The piece that really caught my attention was the Beethoven violin/piano sonata#8, which I had heard for the very first time. A very lively and exciting rendition. My condolences to family and friends.

When the Beatles first became popular, Robin had a Beatles themed birthday party. His birthday was July 4th! We all had to wear Beatles wigs! I remember everyone having such a good time dancing to all the Beatles songs.

We grew up together in Camden. In elementary school, a friend was having a party and our mothers arranged for us to go together...first date for both of us!. Prayers are with you.

I worked with Robin during my time as a student at the College of Charleston in the mid-1980's, as well as an assistant during the Piccolo Spoleto Musica da Camera series in 1987. Always wanting the best of everyone when it came to music performances and sharing his love and knowledge of music with all. A tremendous talent and a kind mentor.
