Coach Doc,
You are a true legend in DC to any kid that picked up a basketball. I will never forget when I tried out for one of your teams when I was 12 and was suprised that I got picked. That gave me some credibility that I never imagined considering all of the guys and ladies you have coached. You told me I made it because I hustled and played defense and listened. (but some guys wanted to fight me because of it) You said I would be successful and to always give back and I haven't forgotten that. and I made some great friends because of it. I just wish some of these young guys could learn what we learned. It was an honor to know guys like you and Bill Butler, Tom Jones, Mr. Jabbo Kenner, Chuck Taylor etc.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Sonny. Although I met Sonny before when your grandma Ruth was living, I feel like I just got to know all of you while preparing for her funeral. I thank God for all of you. I thank God we were given the chance to connect. He's home now. May he rest in God's Perfect Peace.
