Haruko and I were deeply saddened at the news of Bill's passing. Through the last half of a year, Bill did so well for Margaret and, knowing that she is now in good caring hands of the people at St. Vincent, he must have been feeling some comfort.
In a small personal note, I would like to remember him. In 1985, Bill
came to visit me at home. I did not know him then but he came to invite me to join OSO, being asked by John Gomez. I told him that I did not want to play "under pressure" but I was persuaded, partly because of his sincerity. And, of course, I am happy to say that my life entily changed ever after.
Thank you, Bill!!

Uncle Will, I am so glad that I was able to see you the last two times I came to Ottawa from Australia. I was especially glad to be present when the Ottawa Symphony presented a chair in your honour. I will miss you.

Bill, you were one of the constants in the Ottawa Symphony. It will not be the same without your sitting in on rehearsals and helping to arrange the venues for some of them. You were great to work with during the more than 20 years that we worked together as contractor and paymaster for the OSO. You embodied the spirit of service to the organization. You will remain with the orchestra with the designation of the Principal second violin chair in your name.
I will be thinking of you on Friday from Vancouver. May you rest in peace.

Will,
If music be the food of life, play on. Your memory will last forever with us through the songs you shared with us.
Godspeed,
The Cassidy family
