William SANGSTER Obituary
December 30, 1932 - May 26, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Mr. Bob Sangster at the age of 82 years.
Bob is survived by his wife Marilynn, children: Karen (Bob) Beattie, Kent (Joanna) Ciapka-Sangster, grandchildren Daric, Adam and Kaja. Bob will also be missed by his brother Garth (Pat) Sangster sister-in-law Gaylene Sangster as well as other extended family and many friends.
Bob was predeceased by his brother Donald Sangster.
Bob played hockey with the Edmonton Oil Kings, Edmonton Flyers the Lacombe Rockets and the Edmonton Old Timers Hockey team. He worked for many years managing Highland Sporting Goods and also managed Sport Central at its beginning. Bob was also a long standing member of the K40 and Kinsmen Club as well as the Edmonton Old Timers Fishing Club.
In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service for his family will be held at a later date. There will be a celebration of Bob's life held at a later date for family and friends.
Donations in memory of Bob may be made in lieu of flowers to the SPCA, Sport Central or a charity of your choice.

He was a legend. I met him in 1993/1994 at Sport Central and will never forget his voice, his stories and his joyful demeanor. I am so sorry that I did not hear of your loss sooner. His life was a blessing to many. I'm so sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to the Sangster family and all those that Bob Sangster touched throughout his life. He was 'cut from the same wood' as my grandpa in that they shared in a passion for hockey and sports in general but more than that a love for family. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies.

Marilyn and family -- I was saddened to read about Bob's passing May 26. He truly epitomized the tribute : "There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains". Deservedly it is now Bob's legacy. My prayers join yours - my sincerest sympathy to you and yours.I should be privileged to attend the celebration of his life!

As the current Executive Director of Sport Central, I want to convey my gratitude and respect for Bob and his family for the legacy he helped build here. I never had the pleasure of meeting Bob in person but I see his fingerprints daily around Sport Central, a job he accepted back in 1991. Sport Central might not have celebrated its Silver Anniversary next year without the commitment and effort of Bob. He would be pleased to know over 120,000 disadvantaged children have been outfitted with sports equipment since he opened our doors. Well done Bob!

My sincere condolences. I always enjoyed Bob's stories about hockey and fishing, etc, whenever I stopped in the past to visit. I will never forget when this family opened their house to me back when I was a teenager - I was a guest of the Sangster family when I went to Edmonton to play in the provincial honour band back in 1978. I'm sure Bob has passed on a lot of knowledge and help to so many others who will forever be grateful such as I am.
