There are just some people who bring a smile to your face when you think of them or hear their name. I have not seen any of you in such a long time, and yet I can easily go back in my mind to the many times around the kitchen table on Westover Road, to the backyard parties and to always seeing his smiling face, dodging his wit and enjoying his laughter whenever I did see him. How heavy my heart is as I tried to find a way to put my feelings for Uncle Billy on paper. I know first hand that there are no words to express the enormous hurt you are feeling on the passing of a husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great grandfather. But, I also know first hand that there will come a time when this terrible pain will lessen and then the memories that you hold in your heart will truly be a gift and a treasure for you to cherish. Until that time comes please know that we are here for you no matter what you may need.
Uncle Billy's infectious laughter and cheerfulness has always brought joy to the lives of all that knew and loved him. I know you will miss him terribly, I will miss him just as much. You mentioned so beautifully in his obituary about his passion for flowers and that he was "a master floral designer" and he certainly was. His most beautiful centerpiece ever created is the one he and Maryanne created of family and friends. He has nurtured his children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends into a beautiful arrangement of love, laughter, kindness and compassion as was evident Monday afternoon at his bedside when the sun set on his life here on earth. However, final that may sound the truth is his legacy will live on through you all for years to come.
