William Sauter Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 14, 2024.
William "Bill" Sauter, age 70, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 3, surrounded by his wife and daughters, after the sudden onset of the rare brain disorder, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD).

Bill was the sixth of eight children born to Ralph and Mary Sauter. He grew up on the family farm in Keenesburg, Colorado, where he developed the work ethic his children admired. He graduated from Weld Central High School and Western State College. After college, Bill met and married Karen. Together they raised three daughters. He spent his career working in procurement and contracts.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, helping his wife and daughters with home projects, and going to his grandchildren's sporting events. He spent much of his free time outside, working in the yard, skiing, golfing, and hiking. Over the years he played basketball and cards. He was an avid sports fan. Many will remember Bill's sense of humor and practical jokes.

Bill was a beloved member of the community. He was known as a kind and selfless man who always had time for anyone who needed a hand. Not only was he active in his church, but he also lived out his Christian faith daily by his service and love for all around him.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Kristyn (Ryan), Laura, and Katie; grandchildren, Brennan, Adrian, Andrew, and Bridget; siblings, Father John, Connie (Guy), Andy (Julie), Jerry (Betty), Dave (Jill), and Jamie; sisters-in-law, Sheila (Monte) and Deanie; brothers-in-law, Lance and Mark (Tanya), and many nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, sister, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at The Bridge Church at Bear Creek on Saturday, October 19 at 10 AM. 3101 S. Kipling St., Lakewood, Colorado.

The family wishes to thank their friends and family for the extraordinary love and support during this time.

Bill was my Godfather and I was so thankful that he was able to travel and be there for special moments in my life, such as my wedding and baby shower. I wish there had been more time for shared memories. He was a loving brother to my mom, he will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

I always admired Bill's patient and caring demeanor. We had so much fun during our years at Coors. Helen always commented about how incredibly handsome he was. What a great smile!
Strong as an Ox and seemingly passive until you encountered him on the basketball court.
I am so very saddened by his passing. the world lost a great one!
My heart goes out to Karen, the girls and his family. May God bless you all.
