My condolences to the Scherer family. Few people know that "rip" was responsible for forming the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Bowling League (WPIBL) in the 1975-76 school year. That year, there were only 6 teams. It has grown to 48 teams in the Western PA area. Thank You, "Rip", for starting that league. competition

Coach Scherer coached me at North Catholic in 1957 & 1958. He was a great coach and a great man. I look at the picture of him and us, in the photo of the undefeated Trojans in 1958 every day. He will remain in my heart forever. God bless and take care of you Rip. Your loved by many.

To June and the entire Scherer family: Coach Rip was a mans man and a teacher first. He taught all of us lessons that help carry many of us thru life. Coach helped so many of us ato receive an education and to experience football on the collegiate level.
