Coach Scherer was not only our coach but also guide to all of us to become very good citizens and competitors. He touched every person that he coached and made us men in his image, which was outstanding. May he Rest In Peace. Our prayers go out to his family during this holy season.

I think the "Moon Tiger Field" should be named after Coach Rip Scherer. After all the man did for Moon as well as the Pittsburgh Community- a little late but a great idea.

Rip was a tremendous influence on my life. He taught me how to live my life in the spirit of North Catholic. May he rest in peace as he joins Brother Ed Spang and Coach Graham on the heavenly team.

Coach was a true gentleman. He always had a smile on his face and always had a kind word. Rip was encouraging to me throughout my career. He was a friend and mentor to all football coaches.

The moment I met Rip only a few years ago, I knew he was a fine gentlemen let alone an outstanding coach. He was my type of man. He was always kind to my grandson and I and always had kind words for us. Rest in peace Rip! The world was a better place with you.

Rip was a fantastic athelet but was a greater person. You will always be in my prayers Rip. I graduated withyour brother Bones in 1946. Bones and I were on the Pa State championship basketball team of 1946. God Bless the Scherer family and please accept my condolences.

Dear Scherer Family: My heart goes out to each of you as you face the loss of Mr. Scherer. Many years ago, I had the good fortune to be invited by Sandy & Scott to one of the family beach trips & I've always remembered the love Mr Scherer expressed for his family during a prayer. He brought us all to tears. I know he will be sorely missed. You have my deepest sympathy.

I have been blessed over the past 15 years to have Rip as my advisor,mentor,and most importantly my friend. If everyone would only have half of his integrity, loyalty and faith it would be a fantastic world. I know my world is a better for having had Rip in it!

My condolences to the Scherer family. Few people know that "rip" was responsible for forming the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Bowling League (WPIBL) in the 1975-76 school year. That year, there were only 6 teams. It has grown to 48 teams in the Western PA area. Thank You, "Rip", for starting that league. competition

Coach Scherer coached me at North Catholic in 1957 & 1958. He was a great coach and a great man. I look at the picture of him and us, in the photo of the undefeated Trojans in 1958 every day. He will remain in my heart forever. God bless and take care of you Rip. Your loved by many.

of what a wonderful fellow student he vwas. He was compassionate, thoughtful and put the needs of others before his own. My condolences to his family and

I had the privilege of being mentored by "Rip" during my high school years: and, can truthfully say that he was one of influential men in my life. Rip set the standard honesty and itrgrity in my life.

To June and the entire Scherer family: Coach Rip was a mans man and a teacher first. He taught all of us lessons that help carry many of us thru life. Coach helped so many of us ato receive an education and to experience football on the collegiate level. This world is a better place because of Rip Scherer and we are thankful that he shared his life with us for 60 some years. He was loved by all of us...He and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers forever...
