To the family of Bill Schofield:
I am deeply saddened by this news! Bill was a mentor to me in both the PSBA as well as in my business. We shared many a comment as to the constant changes within the educational system. I'll miss him and his always timely advice. Please accept my deeptest sympathy.

Dear Clem & family,
We met several years ago at a PSBA meeting. I have known Bill since I started working as Director of Policy Services for PSBA in 1979. Upon retiring, I became a member of my own local board and have gone through the chairs at PSBA and am now immediate past president. I tell you this because without Bill's encouragement to go into public life, I would not have been able to do any of that. He was a tremendous influence in my life as well as every one else he came in contact with. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. With God's help and strength you will continue on. Fondly, Barbara Andrews

Mrs. Schofield,
My mom told me of Mr. Schofield's passing, and I just wanted to extend my sympathy to you and your family. I have no specific memory of Mr. Schofield, except that I was always impressed by his huge presence and he was always so nice to me. God Bless You

Mr Schofield was a giant of a man. He was big in every way -- heart, soul, body, pride, spirit -- and with family and community. I loved him, in part, because we could always talk about swimming. Respectful. Will all my respect and prayers. May we all live with his strength.

To Clementine and all of your family -- The whole Pittsburgh community joins you in mourning Bill's loss. We had just become reacquainted through our work with IRETA. I knew Bill (and Mary, too) through my job at the Allegheny County Medical Society (1976-1990).
Mary -- He gave me your whole life history since I had last seen you and he was so proud of all of it!
And I was thrilled to hear what wonderful life experiences you have had since we last saw you at ACMS.
Thoughts and prayers will be with all of you.
We all will miss Bill's energy and passion for a good cause.

Dear Clem and Family,
As so many others, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Bill. He was a great leader not only in Shaler Township, but in Allegheny County and Pennsylvania. Although we were on different sides of the political fence, once elections were over, Bill was always ready to dig in and work for the betterment of everyone in the community. When I mentioned to Bill that I was applying for a job with Allegheny County, he told me to use his name as a reference. Just the mention of his name and warm and personal stories would flow forth. What I will miss most is the conversations we had, as many times when I was leaving town after a day's work, I would see Bill in front of the USS building on Grant Street waiting for a bus. I would offer him a ride, but cautioned that I was parked up in the Strip District near 16th Street. He would always take me up on the offer, and although he was nearly 20 years my senior, I would be struggling to stay with him by the time we got to the parking lot. He will be missed by so many people, for so many reasons. I thank God that I had the opportunity to know and be a friend of Bill Schofield. God bless your family. You are remembered in my prayers.

Clem and the Schofield Clan: I am well versed in the use of the English language and do a lot of writing for my email list, but I am hard pressed to fully express myself in words at the loss of a friend.
Bill and I go way back to the day he first came into the Naval Reserve program as a LT. Bill was one of our best young officers, and I worked well with him.
I was privileged to see Bill one last time on Nov.16th when we met in the eye doctor's office in Mercy Hospital. We had much to talk about old times and friends, then I asked Bill how he was doing physically. His response was that he was doing just fine with no chronic conditions.
With that in mind, word of his death caught me by surprise, I expected him to hear of my passing.
Thus I knew his departure had to be sudden, which it was, and I told Eileen, "I ain't riding the bus any more."
Clem. I share in your loss, because it is also mine, but keep in mind "our loss is God's gain."
I accepted Christ as Saviour and went on to make him Lord of my life, and stand on God's promise thru Jesus of eternal life. Therefore, I will see Bill again, as you and his loved ones also will.
God bless you and your family as you walk the road without Bill by your side.

Dear Clem and Crew. I hope you all realize how Bill touched my life and family. He was a wonderful friend and a role model without fault. From the first day we met in January of 2000 when Bill introduced himself in my driveway through last Sunday night when we were all watching the Steeler's football game together, I knew Bill was a special man. He will be sadly missed on the street, at Kiwanis, and in my heart. Love you all. Max

Dear Schofield family,
I first met your husband and father when he taught my high school CCD class back in the late 60's. He was always a man of integrity, who spoke his mind and stuck to his convictions. Whenever I was in the Shaler area and ran into Bill, he always stopped to share a word. His community involvement was a model to be emulated. I was greatly saddened when my parents shared the news of Bill's passing. May God bless him and bring him into the peace that he so richly deserves. Those of us left behind will feel the void, but we also rejoice that he has gained his heavenly reward.

Dear Clem and children,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Bill's sudden death. I am sorry that I will be unable to attend the viewing or funeral as Bob and I are in Florida for a few months.
Bill was always a stalwart supporter of the Shaler North Hills Library when I was director, and I remember many times when he encouraged me and offered good advice. He will be sorely missed.

There are those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened. Mr. Schofield was a person eager to make things happen. He was committed to helping others and improving our society. Anyone who was lucky enough to encounter him and his wisdom will never forget him. We, the members of the Interagency Council of The Pittsburgh Public Schools, will miss him.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill. He was always a good friend to me. His service to God. his family, his country and his fellowman was greatly appreciated. He will be sorely missed. Clem keep the faith. We who believe that there is an afterlife, know that we will see him again. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

I always will be grateful I had the opportunity to know and love Bill Schofield. Not only was he a man of high integrity, he was a "humble" servant of all people in need. Over the years since he was president of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, our friendship grew and blossomed. I trusted his counsel, shared his love for his family, and came to consider him a second father. He gave freely of himself to all he touched, was passionate in everything he did, worked tirelessly for what he believed in, and loved life. May he now rest safely in God's arms (and not try to change heaven's ways!). My thoughts and prayers got out to his family, as my love for him continues.

I never met Bill and Clem until my father passed away. My mother, Elizabeth Conway, and Bill were friends in politics many years ago. When my dad died Bill stepped in and helped my mom, brother and I with advice and friendship. My mother respected Bill Schofield more than anyone on the planet. When my mother died just 6 months after my dad Bill helped my brother and I deal with all the legalities. He was always available for a cheerful word and always knew someone who could help. Bill and I have talked a couple times since I moved to Wisconsin and I am heartbroken and devastated at his passing. He was truely a great man with a big heart, he will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.

I was greatly saddened to hear the news about Bill's death. He was a man who was always so full of life. He loved to tell stories about Clem and the dog and he was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Bill was a man of integrity and of kindness. He often fought for the underdog. We served on the PSBA Board and Insurance Trust together and he was always encouraging and supportive. I will miss his booming voice and his counsel at our meetings and conferences. It is a great loss to everyone who knew him and to the agencies he worked with. My sympathy to Clem and his family.

Words can not express my heavy heart. Bill was a wonderful human being and would help anyone, anywhere. I had the privilege to know Bill through his leadership and involvement with the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
My son was born on Bill's birthday. Everytime we'd talk, Bill would always ask "How's my boy." We always shared pictures of Jared and Bill's grandchildren. I will miss that.
I will truly miss him. Clem, you and your entire family are in my family's thoughts and prayers.

Bill not only was an outstanding brother of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity but also was a strong and lifelong member of the Gamma Sigma chapter's alumni association and housing corporation.
Our entire chapter benefited from Bill's time, effort and wisdom, but even more important than his leadership was the manner in which brothers spanning five decades were able to count on Bill as the embodiment of our preamble, "for the establishment of friendship on a firmer and more lasting basis . . ."
Pi Kappa Alpha offers condolences to Bill's family, with thanks for sharing him with us for many years.

It is a huge lost to all of us in the passing of one of the greatest men that I have known. There are only a few people that I know that is strong enough to stand on their convictions. When he wasnt fighting for fairness for children across the commonwealth he was passing out his pocket calendars. No one ever had to know where they stood with Bill because he would let you know. Bill was a true friend who always saw the good in people and encouraged them to be the best. He always had an open ear to anything that i had to say and would always say i know you'll do the right thing. It made my heart sad when I heard the news of my friend. However, I know he is in a better place and if there are problems there, we all know that Bill will let them know how to fix it. He loved his family and he loved me. I will never forget him. Thank you for allowing me to express my feelings for this great man - MY FRIEND.
