William Madison Shobe
DUNCANVILLE, Texas — More affectionately known as Billy, he was born on June 29, 1935, in Sedalia, Missouri to Mildred C. Cooper and George W. Shobe. He was a graduate of Lincoln Hubbard School, which afterwards he served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years. After leaving the Marine Corps, he then joined the Sedalia Police Department, where he retired after 39 years of service, ending his career as Chief of Detective.
Billy was called home with the Lord on November 12, 2014 where he passed at home with his loving wife Ida Mae Shobe, of 38 years, in Duncanville, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred, father, George, sister, Lois, and daughters, Tina and Tonya.
Billy was an avid worker and donated a lot of his time to the NAACP, Mason's, Lincoln Hubbard School Reunion Board, Eastern Star and served working at Alexander-May Funeral Home for over 50 years. He was a devoted member of Free Will Baptist Church in Sedalia, MO, where he served on the Trustee Board and was able to share his love of singing with everyone while being in the choir. He also started and enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, LaQuetta Boyd (Vernon), of Waldorf, MD, daughter, Portrice Chapman, of Lompoc, CA, Yolanda Smith (David), of Duncanville, TX, Reggie Bell (Sherry), of Waukee, IA, Ronnie Bell (Lori), of Sedalia, MO, Garell Bell (Jackie) of Richland Hills, TX, Rubena Servance (Eric), of Spring, TX, sister, Carolyn Bethell, of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren, Christopher M. Shobe, Lamont Lewis, TaKisha Smith, John Boyd, LaTasha Boyd, Riki Adams, Zachary, Jonathan, Joshua, Hanna, Aleesia, Letysha, Paul and host of nieces, nephews, and great-grands.

I worked with and for Billy Shobe (AKA: "L.T.") for 12 years in Sedalia's Criminal Investigation Bureau. A great mentor and friend! You will be missed "L.T." may you rest in Peace.
