William "Bill" K. Skaer, Jr.

Lufkin, Texas - William "Bill" K. Skaer, Jr died January 31, 2021 at Woodland Heights Medical Center, Lufkin, TX. He was born July 12, 1950 at St. Mary's Hospital Kansas City, MO to William K. Skaer, Sr and Charlotte H. Bennison Skaer both deceased. He attended Hickory Grove Elementary, Meadowbrook Junior High and was a 1969 graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School. He proudly served in the US Army first at Camp Casey South Korea where he had the privilege of meeting then President Gerald Ford. He went on to serve in Vietnam. After military service, Bill was employed as a civilian at Ft. Polk, LA until retirement in 2012. He married his first wife, Pyong Yop Hall, in 1973, He married Beckeye Durall in 1980. He married Emily Karon McGlothin, his soul mate, in 1998 and they enjoyed 22 years of lakeside living at Toledo Bend Reservoir, TX. William was happiest surrounded by family, riding his Harley, any ferris wheel and fishing. He is survived by his wife Emily Karon Skaer, Burkeville, TX, sisters Martha Wright and Dianne Strunk both of Overland Park, KS, son George Skaer, daughters Christina Holloway and Gina Huffman(Anthony) all of greater Louisville, KY, daughter Charity Nolan Indianapolis, IN, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. He also leaves his much loved stepchildren Gavin-David McDonald (Alexis) St. Petersburg, FL and Emily Scofield (Ryan) Baton Rouge, LA. Burial by cremation.
