SMART William B. (Bill) Smart (83) of Jacksonville died January 1, 2004. Born in Savannah, GA, he has lived in Jacksonville since 1940. He served in the Navy with U. S. Navy Transportation Command during WWII. Bill retired from the Seaboard Airline RR (CTX) after 45 years and served as Chairman of United Transportation Union Local 903 for 25 years. He was a member of Riverview Masonic Lodge # 306 F&AM and Scottish Rite Order. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Butler & Gertrude Jones Smart, sons, Ronald B. Smart & L. Wayne Smart; grandson, Michael B. Smart. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Campbell Smart, his daughter, LaTrelle Smart of Dallas, TX, granddaughter, Angela Smart of Tallahassee. Brothers, Curtis L. Smart (Dorothy) of Ridgeland, SC, E. Derald Smart (Connie) of Jacksonville, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, Jan 5, 2004 in the Chapel at Arlington Memorial Park with interment at Arlington Memorial Park with interment at Arlington Park Cemtery. 6900 Lone Star Rd. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, Jan 4, 2004 at the funeral home. Please sign the Guestbook at Jacksonville.com
