William Soyka Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 1, 2024.
William P. Soyka, known affectionately as Bill, passed away on August 16, 2024, in East Hampton, CT, at the age of 60. Born on February 19, 1964, in New Britain, CT, Bill grew up in a close-knit family and attended Berlin High School in Berlin, CT.

Bill dedicated his career to serving as an Automotive Quality Craft Worker at the State of Connecticut - Office of Veteran's Affairs. Outside of his professional life, Bill was profoundly driven by his love for animals, particularly horses and dogs. His commitment to animal welfare was evident through his volunteering at the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue (CDHR) and his efforts in rescuing dogs.

Those who knew Bill remember him as a man with a biker's spirit and a compassionate soul, whose presence was a source of strength and friendship. His life was a testament to his belief in kindness and advocacy for animals in need.

Bill is survived by his siblings, Michael Soyka and James Soyka, sister Kim Knopf, and his niece, Katie Knopf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and William Soyka.

A remembrance service for Bill will be held on September 15, 2024, at the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue in East Hampton, CT, at 1:00 pm. In a fitting tribute to his life's passion, his ashes will be scattered at the same location, allowing him to eternally watch over the horses he cherished.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Connecticut Draft Horse Rescue in East Hampton, CT, to honor Bill's memory and support the cause closest to his heart.

I shared my love of horses, dogs, etc., with Bill.I admired his love and devotion to animals, humans and nature. Unfortunately, I never personally met Bill, however I knew Bill's father (William Soyka,Sr., and also several members of the Soyka family. A cousin of Bill's is a sister-in-law of mine along with other dear family members. My heart and prayers go out to all of them.
Blessings and prayers forever from my heart.
