At Birdwell Elementary in Tyler, Texas, Bill Speller bested me for 5th Grade Class President! We were friends then and all through Tyler High School and UT-Austin. Remembering him as a fellow youth at First Presbyterian in high school, we enjoyed choir, Christmas tableaux on the front lawn, and summer camps of foundational learning. As a believer, I know I will celebrate the eternity of Heaven with him. Deep sympathy and compassion to Melissa and son Chris. Rest in peace and praise! Thank you for the great memories!

Mr Speller was the finest gentleman that I have worked with over my 35 year career in the Oil Service Industry. He treated everyone in a special way....one of the kindest men that I have every known.
My condolences to his family.

One could not have had a better friend, "brother" and neighbor as Bill was growing up on Hilltop Dr. Those memories will be with me forever. Rest In Peace Dear Friend. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

When my parents moved to Tyler from Beeville, and enrolled me in Birdwell Elementary, three guys befriended me: Bill Speller, Neil Wilkerson, and Joe B. McClain. Bill and I ran against each other for the Class President of the 6th Grade, and he won! He was a winner from the start.
We enjoyed expanding our friendship through the youth group at First Presbyterian, Hogg Junior High, and Tyler High School graduating in the 1958 Class.
I have wonderful memories of his servant heart and his love of personal relationships.
Ironically, my 100-year old mom, who cooked cinnamon rolls for Bill during home visits, passed into gloryland on January 11. May they enjoy their reunion and their eternal home.

Chris, I am deeply saddened by the passing of your father. I spoke with him several years ago when he called. He was "over the moon" telling me of the grandchildren you gave him. He Loved you so and was very proud of you. He was a great man and will be missed by all. You and your father were there for me when I lost my loved ones. I wish I could have been there for you today. Prayers for you, his wife and your family.

Bill...what an honor it was to know you. I got to meet you and Melissa through my mother Kay and stepfather Jerry, and spending time with you was always so much fun! You were always my bloody Mary buddy at brunch when I came to visit! Rest in peace my friend...it's clear that you made so many people's lives special. Love to you and your family.
