STAHL – William Hay, 82, Somerset, passed Feb. 9, 2010, at Windber Hospice. Born Dec. 16, 1927, in Somerset Township, son of the late Clark W. and Etta (Hay) Stahl. Also preceded in death by son, Cpl. Roger W. Stahl; brother, Ernest E. Stahl; and brothers-in-law, Robert Larimer and Clair Reiman. Survived by wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Speicher) Stahl; daughters, Rebecca Minnich, and husband, John, Somerset; and Jo Ann Balsley, and husband, Scott, Somerset; grandchildren, Laura Minnich, and husband, Michael Castillo, Jacksonville, Fla.; Abby Minnich, Philadelphia; Ann Schuth, and husband, Gareth, Newville; Megan McKinley, and husband, Joshua, Pittsburgh; and Mikel Balsley, and wife, Kathryn (Van Antwerp), Germantown, Md.; sister, Evelyn Larimer, Berlin; brother, George Stahl, and wife, Audrey, Somerset; sisters-in-law, Maxine Stahl, Somerset; and Mary Jane Reiman, Berlin; aunt, Fern Hay, Somerset; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Stahl was a 1946 graduate of Somerset High School. He was a longtime farmer in Somerset Township and also was a truck driver for Cooper and Jarrett and Stahl Oil Co. Inc. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Somerset VFW Post 554. He and Dorothy moved to Sebring, Fla., where they lived for 10 years before returning home. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with one hour visitation prior to the service, Pastor Linda McElroy Thomas, officiating. Interment, Casebeer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Vietnam Veterans of America Inc., Somerset Chapter 587, P.O. Box 711, Somerset, Pa. 15501, or Christ Casebeer Cemetery Association, 10377 Somerset Pike, Somerset, Pa. 15501-7301.
