Bill, Susan, Alice, Beth,
I am very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is there is no body like Grampy ( Tanny Boy) and Uncle Johnson. I am just so glad he did not have to be around and not be independent. I think that is always a great thing to be able to drive your self and do your own thing. My first car that I remember Uncle Johnson having had a gas tank on the roof because the tank had rusted out. I thought it was so cool and it gave me the knowledge that just because it does not look so good use your head your can come up with a way to fix it. I am so glad your children got to have Uncle Johnson for the knowledge and skills that I can sure tell you no other could have given them or you. I still miss Granny and Grampy to this day. I had lunch with uncle Johnson about a 6 or 8 weeks maybe longer time flies for me and we had a great time talking about Beth and the horses and the trips to Fl with the sugar pulp that I got to make with them on the boat. I am very sorry that I did not get to come to the funeral but our family and my Mom and Dad were there in spirit. I hope to keep in better touch and we can share some of our stories together. Your Dad & Mom were very close friends with our parents . All of the Goodmans extend our simpathy to all of you and know that our prayers are with each of you during this time .

Captain Stevens was one of the most inspirational gentleman that I was honored to meet. As I became interested in the history of Stevens Towing and later in the family history, Captain Stevens helped lead me with his recollections and stories.
I was so happy the day he came to visit Colonial Dorchester State Park during our Saturday morning archeological dig. At lunch amidst one of the lots owned by one of his relatives, he had the group "in his hand." Everyone had questions that he was delighted to answer.
I will miss him, but keep his spirit alive in the history he shared.

I truly believe Captain Johnson was one of the finest people I have met my entire life. Many times he would listen carefully to a work (and sometimes personal) tribulation of mine. After listening closely he always asked a few questions to clarify the facts. It seemed he would analyze a problem mechanically, socially, religiously and most of all using his life full of experiences. After careful consideration, sometimes even returning the next day, a level headed answer or solution would be given. Usually at that point his mind was made up and no additional facts or arguments could change his mind. Weather I liked the answer or not, I always respected his thoughts to the fullest.
Our prayers to the Stevens family especially of peace of mind knowing there will always be wonderful memories. We will truly miss Captain Johnson and will always have fond memories of him.
