MARYDEL - William 'Bill' Stubbs went to be with his Lord & Saviour on Monday, March 24th, 2014. William Frederick Stubbs was born Dec. 8th, 1930 to George Edward Stubbs & Lulu Elizabeth "Tate" Stubbs in Starkey's Corner, Md. He was one of seven children. Bill lived in Marydel for over 44 years. Bill had several careers during his lifetime. He was a US Army Retired Staff Sergeant and served his country during the Korean War, Vietnam War and retired after 21 years 2 months and 29 days of service. He enlisted and was trained in an artillery battalion. He was stationed in Korea; Misawa AFB, Honshu, Japan; Heilbronn, Germany; Fort Carson, Colo.; Fort Bliss, San Antonio, Texas; and Lawton Ft Sill, Okla. He was a decorated soldier with numerous medals including Rifle Sharpshooter, Flamethrower Engineer, Good Conduct Medal, and Letters of Commendation. He served in many capacities including Video Camera Engineer, Audio Specialist, Recording Engineer, TV Cameraman, Videographer, Auto Repairman & TV Repairman. While over seas, he had the privilege of working on the USO tours and met famed singers like Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, Buck Owens and many more. He received his G.E.D. while in the service. After retiring from Lawton Fort Sill, he was a long haul truck driver. He went to work for the then "Getty Oil" Refinery in Wilmington as a heavy equipment operator. After retiring from his second career, he helped Amish Craftsman travel to various locations to fulfill their trade obligations and he especially enjoyed taking them to visit family in Kentucky and Tennessee. Bill was a Noble with Shriner's International and a 47 year member of the India Shrine, Oklahoma City, Okla. and a member of the Grand Lodge of Okla., A.F. & A.M., specifically the Mt Scott Lodge #540 in Lawton, Okla. He was an advocate for Shriner's Hospital Program which provides medical care to children at no charge. He was also a member of the ABATE of Delaware Motorcycle Organization. He married, Edna "Faye" Larrimore on May 20, 2005 in White County, Arkansas. He was her constant companion and she his. They loved to travel together. In his younger years, he was an avid sportsman and loved hunting. He loved country music, bluegrass, fiddle & guitar playing, western movies, motorcycles, photography and living in the country. He loved to cook and he loved to eat. He believed in God, Country and Family. He was a single parent and raised three children. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Dorothy Simpler, Louise Walters, Ginny Lord, Patsy Holt and two grandsons, Dylan Miles and Zachary Stubbs. He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Stubbs and five children; daughter, Karen E. Qualls of Edmond, Okla.; son, William F. Stubbs, Jr. of Spokane, Wash.; son, Richard D. Stubbs and wife, Penny of Mooresboro, N.C.; daughter, Lou Christian and husband, Gene of Norman, Okla.; and daughter, Lillian C. Bogle and husband, Monty of Duncan, Okla. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and brothers, George "Junior" Stubbs, of Chestertown, Md. and Jack E. Stubbs of St. Michaels, Md. Viewing with the family is Friday, March 28th, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Shriner's Hospital Program, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fl 33607. Dad I love you so much. I am so thankful your in heaven with our heavenly father.He will see you will no longer have to endure many medical procedures. I am thankful the last year 1/2 of your life was in the care of strangers whom loved you. The Veterans nurses LOVE YOU! Did my heart good to hear. I am proud to be your daughter. To have the dignity, truth, & determination I inherited from you. I will always do you proud. It's not the end Dad. It's just the beginning. See you in heaven!
