William Thayer Obituary

William S. Thayer, 63

Millinocket, Maine – William "Billy" Thayer, of Millinocket, ME and formerly of Princeton and Rutland, MA, passed away on June 5, 2024, after an illness. He was 63. He was the son of John D. Thayer, DDS and Barbara (Tracy) Grace.

Billy graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, class of 1979. He spent many years building homes in Central Massachusetts, a profession he excelled at. His love for construction and architecture was passed on to his daughter through countless sketches of roof pitches and floor plans on restaurant napkins. He loved holidays and always sought out the most thoughtful gifts. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a passion for hunting and fly fishing, along with commercial fishing off Cape Cod. He found solace moving to Millinocket and spent his time off the beaten path in Nesowadnehunk, ME, continuing his love for the outdoors and fly fishing.

He leaves his mother, Barbara Grace of Chatham, a daughter, Lyndsey A. Arute and her husband Paul of Tolland, CT, a brother Robert T. Thayer and his wife, Kristine Thayer of Eastham, a sister Kimberly T. Gardula and her husband Eric of Princeton, 3 grandchildren, Jackson, Mason and Charlie Arute, a niece and 3 nephews. He also leaves his beloved dog, Denali.

A private ceremony with immediate family will happen at a later date.
