William Thompson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 16, 2023.
William T Thompson was born on November 4, 1942, to Harold Thor Thompson and Mae Naomi McKean Thompson. He passed away on November 11, 2023, with his loyal dog Presley by his side. Big brother to Allen, Shirley and Marie. He went by many nicknames, Willie, Herbie, Dudley, but "Papa" was his favorite. He loved being a Grandpa and Great Grandpa.

In his younger days, he loved fishing at Defa's Dude Ranch and having coffee at Paul's Cafe.

Later on in the years, the Redwood Lounge was his preferred hangout, reminiscing about the good old days with his friends from Elementary School and others he met along the way.

Served in the US Army and fought bravely in Vietnam.

He married Sherilyn Gallo, later divorced. Then he met and married the woman who would forever change his life, Erma Godfrey. They lived most of their life in Murray where their boys terrorized the neighborhood. Together they enjoyed spending much of their summers with their "Gang" in Star Valley, Wyoming and winters at Beaver Dam/Mesquite.

Survived by sister Marie (John), sons Jeff (Pam) Thompson, Todd (Cindy) Thompson, Roger (Paige) Cundick, grandchildren Jake, Megan, Britnie (Brady), Chelsie (Trevor), Shelbie (Wyatt), Karissa (Jayson), Jason (Ashley), JD, Mason and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces all whom he loved dearly. Bill has a special relationship with his first great-granddaughter, Mila, and she will cherish those memories.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Erma, grandson Thor, and siblings Allen and Shirley.

A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, November 18th at the Redwood Lounge on 502 S Redwood Road from 4:00-7:00 pm. Bring your memories of Bill to share.
