I worked with Bill at Death Valley High in Shoshone, Calif. back in 1971. If I ever felt down, Bill was the guy to see. Always upbeat with a smile on his face, he could make you laugh with his down-home humor or off-beat observations. So long pal, til' we meet again.

Just found out about Coach. We lost a great, great man. He was like another father to me, such a wise, warm hearted soul. I loved playing football for him, I loved him picking me up on the bus in the morning and listening to oldies all the way to school. He enriched so many lives, words can't even describe it. God speed Coach, I am so appreciative of what you did for me and others.

Will never forget my dear Cousin Bill, always looked forward to his visits to his old hometown, Horton, Kansas. First thing he did when he saw you was to give you a big laugh and a kiss. If any of you former students ever heard him talk about his Uncle Harley, that was my Dad. Oh the fun times they would have. Ever since Bill was a little boy his Uncle Harley took him to all the ballgames, that's where he first loved football, basketball and track. Rain or shine they would go. Will never forget when I was about 14 my family was going to Falls City, Nebr. to eat catfish on a Friday night,Bill was hitchhiking from Peru college to Horton, Ks., it was snowing and he was on a corner in Hiawatha, Ks. and I said Dad, there's Bill, so Dad went around the block and took him with us to eat. He was so excited to see us and he also loved catfish. He loved his family dearly and never missed a summer to come see us and also to spend time with his Brother Ronnie. Will miss him forever till we meet again in Heaven. My Dad and him probably had fun watching the Super Bowl last night in their big easy chairs in Heaven. Love you Wendy, Michelle, and your kids and grandkids. This page is a wonderful tribute to your Dad, so many people loved him as much as we all do. God Bless you.

I was privileged and honored to have called this amazing man Coach, and friend for the last 32 years!!
As an out of place new kid in Baker in 1982, he welcomed me in, made me feel comfortable and got me into sports there. First with Jr High basketball, then into football, and basketball in high school.
He taught me a great many things as a young man, things that I carry with me today, and try to pass on to my children now.
I loved calling him up and just talking to him about football, life, and other general nonsense. And my visits to his house to sit and laugh with him will always be cherished as some of my favorite memories.
He will forever be in my heart and thoughts, and his amazing daughters Wendy & Michele shall always be sisters to me.
Love and miss you coach, and I cannot wait until we meet again in Heaven!

Coach you will be deeply missed. I remember getting my first"C" in your Chemistry class and I was almost in tears b/c I thought it was horrible and that I was gonna get in a lot of trouble at home. You sat me down and told me that if I had fully applied myself, and that was the grade I got, then it wasn't a bad thing. Because I did my best. Then you told me to try a little harder next time, and if I needed any help you'd be glad to help. You were such an inspiration to me, and always so positive and happy. I will never forget the lessons you taught, or the encouragement you gave. I truly believe that I am a better person today thanks to you Coach. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.

Coach. The world is a better place for having had you in it. But will feel so empty for so many now that you have gone. I'm inspired by the fact that one man can reach so many lives and make a difference. In high school, I was sure that coach gave me some grades that I did not deserve. So I asked him why. He said "Its not always where your going, its the effort you put into getting there." That will stick with me for the rest of my life. Coach has left a legacy, that will no doubt grow even in his passing. Rest well Coach.

My grandpa was an amazing man, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend & COACH. He always had a very warm heart. He touched the lives of everyone who has met him. He could always put a smile on anyone's face. He always told me, "Katie, when I pass, don't cry for me, I lived a great life. I've seen many things, & have been many places". & that is something I will never forget. we all loved him very much. I will always miss him, but I know he isn't sick anymore, & I know he isn't hurting. He is in peace, and looking down. Heaven gained the best angel. I love you grandpa <3

Coach was a wonderful man. He taught me a lot. He told me my 8th grade year Roger I'm going to make you a football player. I told him i trust him and i would love if he could do that. My Senior year at our award banquet i was receiving my awards he took my hand and said Roger I did it. I asked what's that Coach? He said i made you a football player and I'm very proud of you. I looked him in the eyes and said you remember that he said yes i do. I told him thank you and that I loved him and i would never forget him and the things he taught me. I never forgot him we talked every couple months for the last 20 years i still will never forget him. I love you Coach.
