I am truly sorry for the loss of a great man.

Sue and Family,
We wanted to let you know that you and your family are in our prayers, and to say what a wonderful person William was.We are so very sorry for your loss. Although I wasn't around him much, Rusty was, and often talked about him. We know you have lots of beautiful memories, and pray that God will comfort you. If you need us, don't hesitate to call on us.

I am sorry to hear about your dad and now Claude. They were silent but strong pillars in the community. They will be missed. You will be in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. He was a good and well respected man. He will be missed by many.

"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning".

I know that your father and uncle are now beginning the next chapter of their lives - in heaven, where they will live on forever. May God bless them both.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Bill was such a gentle and kind man. Of course, I knew him best from my young days at Main Street Methodist but have always enjoyed words we exchanged when we happened to meet at the Deli or about town. Please know that he is fondly remembered by many and blessed our lives.

William will always have a special place in the hearts of many including Wally and me and our children. Off and on through the years we have tagged along with R. O. and Bonnie to Tazewell to visit with the Van Dyke family. We found him to be a man with a gentle spirit. Right from the beginning we were made to feel like a part of the family and for that we are thankful to both William and Sue. He will certainly live on in his children and grandchildren. What a legacy he has left all of them. He was a true gentleman. We wish it had been possible for us to be there with you at this time, but please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. Dr VanDyke, Gail, Elizabeth, and family, We were saddened to hear of Mr. VanDyke's passing. From his obituary, he sounded like a very wonderful, beloved man. Please extend our sympathies to your family. We miss seeing you all. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Suzanne, Byrd and Rachel Preston

Bill Van Dyke was a true supporting friend during my time at the Main Street United Methodist Church. The obituary said it well: "a quiet, gentle, and unassuming man." But a man dedicated to his Lord and to his church. I will miss him.

The Robert Alford family will fondly remember "Mr. Bill" for all of his wonderful support and advice in their lifetimes. Main Street will always be blessed with wonderful memories of Mr. Bill and visits at the post office.

Dr. William VAnDyke, I didn't know your Dad but remember you talking about him during office visits with my Dad, and also my late husband, Melvin. You and your family have my deep sympathy and prayers. Seeing first hand, your compassion for your patients, show me a picture of your Father, whose example still lives in you.
