William Van Eck Obituary
Bill earned his bachelor's degree from Calvin College before beginning his career at PepsiCo, where he met his wife, Jennifer. In 1995, they settled in Hersey with their son, Tyler. A few years later, their daughter, Alexis, joined the family.There Bill dedicated 22 years to Yoplait, where he was known as a leader, mentor, and friend before retiring in 2017.
In retirement, Bill pursued his love of music, often playing guitar, and enjoyed spending time in nature, playing golf and fishing. He had a deep passion for learning and understanding his world. Most of all, he cherished his role as "Poppa" to his grandchildren, Jenna and Dawson.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 37 years, Jennifer; son Tyler of Big Rapids; daughter Alexis (Jacob) Swales and grandchildren Jenna and Dawson of Sears. He is also survived by his brother Don (Sheryl) Van Eck and sister Judi (Ralph) Tapp, along with several nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his sisters Patricia Schmidt and Janice Grondman.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held at an open house on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from noon until 2 p.m. at Pere Marquette Bistro and Catering in Reed City.
Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Susan P. Wheatlake Regional Cancer Center's general fund in Reed City in gratitude for their compassionate care and dedication to serving rural communities.
