Beloved son of William D., Jr. and Denise Opiela (Oscar); cherished father of Sabrina; dear brother of Dana Brown; adored grandson of William D., Sr. and Patricia, Rose and the late Richard Getty; uncle of Aleena and Bria Brown; treasured nephew, cousin and friend of many. Visitation Sat. from noon until the 4 p.m. service at BALL FUNERAL CHAPEL, INC., 600 Dunster St., Pgh., PA 15226. OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH ALL OF YOU....WE HAD CONSIDERED BILL, BILLY AND DANA AS A PART OF OUR FAMILY, WHEN THEY WERE VERY YOUNG. WE WERE ALL SHOCKED WHEN DAUGHTER IN LAW ANNA READ THE LISTING. I HAD NO WAY TO GET IN TOUCH EXCEPT FOR THIS SIGHT. GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. THE BRUNS FAMILY, CHERYL, TIM AND MARSHA, BRUCE AND ANNA.

Hi Im Rob i Remember when i first moved up to beechivew me and my brother william knight we played street hockey in the parking lot right next to his house on bradway ave. and as me and billy got older i remember stayin at billys house a few times and always hanging out will billy and billy coates. i looked at billy as my brother he kept me out of alot of dumb things and looked out for me ... i had just found out today at work that my brother my best friend had pasted away it tore me up we lost a good man ... i never told him thank you for looking out for me and being a good friend when i first moved up there.... thank billy i love you brother i will miss you so much thank you for the memories

Words cannot express what I'm feeling right now upon hearing this news. We grew up together and beechview and when we weren't in our houses we were always out on the streets in the parking lot playing either football or hockey or some kind of sport I honestly just can't believe that you're gone I just talked to you a few months ago and was hoping that everything would work out mr. Van Kirk I'm very sorry for your loss anything I can do please let me know I'm sorry to your granddaughter Sabrina your dad loves you very much he couldn't stop talking about you all the time God bless

He always was a good man, he alway respected me even as kids he had my back and respected me while others didn't at times "as kids" though after school we both were local and life took us different ways, Billy alway looked out for me and respected me, and always found time to keep in touch.
